The Supreme Court has acquitted Christian women, Asia Bibi, who has been convicted of blasphemy in Pakistan for being punished with death penalty. He appealed the Supreme Court in 2015. Earlier, in December 2010, Aasia Bibi was given death sentence in the lower court. In 2009, he was charged with contempt of religion.
Today Chief Justice of Pakistan Mia Shakib Nisar, Asif Saeed Khosa and Majhar Alam Khan Miankhail exempted Asia Bibi from the contempt of contempt.
During the pronouncement of the verdict, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mia Shakib Nissar said the appeal against the death sentence and conviction was accepted.

Hundreds of people blocked the road in Rawalpindi and Islamabad after the verdict was announced. In addition, people in several cities like Karachi and Peshawar demonstrated. Earlier on October 13, the right-wing Tehreek-i-Labaiac Pakistan (TLP) threatened nationwide protests if release of ASEA.
An additional warning was issued in the capital city Islamabad on Tuesday night. Additional police and law enforcement personnel have been appointed there.
