Four candidates in the BNP are trying to get nomination. They are vice-president of Chittagong South District BNP Sheikh Mohammed Mohiuddin, former General Secretary of Satkania Upazila BNP Mujibur Rahman, Chittagong South District BNP's publicity secretary Nazmul Mostafa Amin and joint secretary Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury.
Local Jamaat has declared former MP A M M Shamsul Islam as Jamaat's candidate.
